Aviation Sales Administrator, Shop Assistant- AFE Oxford Pilot Shop
Airplan Flight Equipment (AFE) have an immediate vacancy for an Aviation Sales Administrator / Shop Assistant at our Oxford branch, adjacent to Oxford (London) Airport. AFE is Europe’s leading supplier of aviation training materials and pilot supplies, and publisher of aviation training books and journals.
This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic and hard-working person seeking a career in aviation. We offer practical support for those who see their vocation in the aviation world and many of the previous holders of this post have later progressed to an aviation career as a professional pilot. Equally this job has a lot to offer someone with a strong aviation background looking to stay in touch with the flying world.
The role includes customer services and basic administration tasks, looking after our Pilot Shop, mail order dispatch and liaising with our customers, suppliers and partners worldwide - as well as working on projects for AFE and its associated companies. There will be the opportunity to travel to some of the shows and events that AFE and associated companies attend every year.
Energy and enthusiasm, good interpersonal skills, a pleasant and helpful personal and telephone manner and a willingness to ‘muck in’ with the rest of the team when required are more important than specific academic or professional qualifications.

Aviation Sales Account Representative
Airplan Flight Equipment (AFE) is a long-established and successful aviation publisher and distributer of pilot supplies, with a particular emphasis on flying training products. As part of our growth strategy we are now looking for an Aviation Sales Account Representative, based at our Oxford premises, opposite London (Oxford) Airport.
The role will include taking overall responsibility for AFE’s trade sales accounts (B2B) in the UK, ranging from small General Aviation (GA) aero clubs to major airline training schools and aircraft operators. With over 3,500 products in our range and a diverse customer base, this is a varied and interesting position requiring flexibility and adaptability from the successful candidate.
Specific tasks will include customer services and daily liaison with AFE’s existing customer base, visiting trade accounts, dealing with sales proposals/quotes and business development. This is very much a ‘hands-on’ role which will involve extensive UK travel. It is well-suited to someone willing to work on their own initiative, who will enjoy finding and developing new business opportunities.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrable enthusiasm for aviation, a practical “Can Do” attitude and a good level of computer literacy (as well as a full driving licence). You will need to enjoy interacting in the General Aviation (GA) environment and although flying qualifications are not essential, many AFE staff hold, or have held, some form of pilot’s licence.
