Bigger is better with Garmin’s newest portable, the GPSMAP695. It has a bright, sunlight readable 7-inch (18 cm) diagonal display that is as crisp and colour rich as any available in aviation portables. This new larger format enables a full range of features not possible on smaller units, including: split screen panel page with a large map, a high resolution terrain page showing hazards relative to your altitude and a vertical profile of terrain along your route of flight, plus so much more.
The GPSMAP 695 is also Garmin’s first portable with IFR High and Low airways The GPSMAP 695 also takes Garmin’s intuitive, easy-to-use operations to a new level with an innovative rotary knob/joystick or “click stick”. This G1000-like addition eliminates rocker pad data entry with a much faster rotary knob which selects alpha-numerics and advances the cursor with a quick tap of the joystick. The same joystick makes map panning and waypoint identification on the map page lightning fast.
This new top of the line portable retains all the features of the industry leading GPSMAP 496 such as, Smart Airspace, Airspace Declutter and Towers & Obstructions for Europe.
With features that focus on aviation-only navigation and mapping, Featuring a large screen, fully sunlight readable, VFR or IFR map display, the 695 is your own personal avionics system.
See the Big Picture
The GPSMAP 695’s bright 7-inch (17.78 cm) diagonal WVGA sunlight-readable display makes it easy to see detailed mapping day or night. Conveniently view a wider area of map on its large-format display. The bezel that frames the screen includes soft keys at the bottom for quick access to features and a joystick control for easy operation. The 695 also features fast 5 Hz graphical rendering of the panel page and datafields for smoother presentation of flight data.
Enhance Situational Awareness
GPSMAP 695 features a realistic “view from space” satellite imagery basemap. It comes with a built-in Jeppesen database, and Atlantic terrain database. It also includes an obstacles database for Europe. Using this information, the 695 displays your flight route over contour terrain mapping. With information from the terrain and obstacles databases, the 695 monitors your current position in relation to surrounding terrain to provide alerts. Even customize your own minimum clearance levels to receive terrain cautions.
Similar to several other portable Garmin devices, the 695 includes the following enhanced software capabilities:
• Airspace Declutter
The GPSMAP 695 features the airspace declutter feature of the GPSMAP 495/496. Just select the maximum altitude and any airspace above this figure will not appear on the mapping page. If you fly higher than the maximum altitude selected then the data will automatically be displayed again.
• VFR or IFR Mapping
Depending on your flying, you can configure the GPSMAP 695 to display detailed information for enhanced mapping in a VFR format or to emulate the IFR enroute charts to which you might be accustomed. The VFR mapping now displays IFR enroute airways boundaries for situational awareness and in IFR map mode it will display these boundaries along with Low and High airways. As in traditional Garmin style all mapping is fully customizable by you to display features satisfactorily for you.
• Private Airports and Heliports, VRPs
The included private airports and heliports database provides even more navigation and emergency "nearest" options. VRPs (Visual Reference Points) are also included and fully searchable as part of your route in pre-flight planning.
Receive Altitude-Sensitive Alerts
When in the air, Garmin’s new Smart Airspace™ feature makes it easier than ever to identify what airspace lies ahead. Smart Airspace automatically highlights airspace close to your current altitude and de-emphasizes airspace away from the current altitude, which gives you increased situational awareness.
