The Garmin GPSMAP495

An exciting new addition to Garmin's aviation portable line-up, the GPSMAP 495 contains all the features of the award-winning GPSMAP 496 but without City Navigator. Elimination of this feature significantly reduces the price of this new offering, providing the serious pilot with the best value in aviation portables available today.

The GPSMAP 495 retains all other valuable features found in the top-of-the-line GPSMAP 496. This includes the European airspace setups, obstacles (no longer just terrain), Visual Reference Points (VRP), helipads and private strips. Also included is Garmin’s patent pending altitude sensitive Smart Airspace alerts. This feature alters the transparency of the airspace depending on how far above its upper limits you are flying. The closer you get, the bolder the avoid warning will display on the screen. The unit provides nearly a 10 fold increase in the resolution of terrain mapping; private airports and heliports; and a lightning-fast 5Hz GPS update rate, which provides a near real-time display for track and rate of turn indications.

If required at a later date City Navigator turn-by-turn vehicle navigation can be added by purchasing the CD and accessories for automotive use.

This product is the ideal choice for customers who do not require the automotive mapping built in. In all other respects it is an ever-popular 496 but with a lower price tag!
